My Hero Academia is one of the biggest manga and anime of the last decade. Love or hate it, that fact cannot be refuted. Kōhei Horikoshi's shonen epic lasted for roughly 10 years, coming to an end in 2025. MHA spawned multiple spin-offs, including the popular Vigilantes, cinematic movies, merchandise, and games. More importantly, the manga led to an anime that spans 8 seasons, starting in 2016 and ending in Fall 2025. Although the characters themselves are great, Quirks are arguably MHA's strongest selling point, as they cover an incredibly diverse lineup of powers.
My Hero Academia: Story Arcs With The Most Character Development, Ranked
These My Hero Academia arcs pushed the characters to new heights, allowing them to grow and mature in the process.
While villains have some of the most interesting abilities, MHA's heroes are also not short-changed when it comes to Quirks; in fact, the good guys are collectively way more powerful than the baddies, although they might not be willing to go as far as the latter. In celebration of the anime's conclusion, let's go through the strongest hero Quirks in My Hero Academia.
The focus is specifically on Quirks, rather than the heroes who use them. That's not to say the latter does not matter, but some abilities are just more powerful.
Updated on November 7, 2025 by Mark Sammut: As MHA is about to end (not counting Vigilantes), this article's galleries have been modernized to further highlight the most powerful hero Quirks. We also added the name of each Quirk's main user.

Great For Sneak Attacks, But Has Several Weaknesses

Black received very little screen time in the anime, which is to be expected since it belongs to Shihai Kuroiro of Class 1-B. It actually did not appear until MHA's fifth season. It seemingly causes the user's skin to become pitch black, but they can merge their body with anything dark, including darkness caused by shadows. Black does not have any size or weight restrictions, which means Shihai can merge with something as small as a mushroom.
As one might expect, Black is highly effective in cramped areas with little to no lighting because of the abundance of shadows. Black is great for launching sneak attacks on unsuspecting targets because it allows Shihai to move incredibly fast, even when he is carrying someone. Unfortunately, Black has a few weaknesses, If a shadowed are gets lit up, Shihai will automatically be ejected from the darkness. If he merges with a small object that gets grabbed by an enemy, he will not be able to escape.

Puts Others To Sleep, But It Is Mainly Effective Against Men

Midnight died during the war with the Paranormal Liberation Front, but she went out fighting. She possessed the Somnambulist Quirk, which allowed her to put people to sleep. This occurred because she was able to produce a sleep-inducing aroma from her bare skin.
This Quirk worked better on males, which means that she could have technically beaten All Might in his prime. She used a feather fan during combat so that she could better spread her aroma, and her costume was designed to tear easily, so her skin could be exposed.
46 Homing (Snipe)
A Sharpshooting Quirk With Low Impact

Snipe is an experienced Pro Hero, but he is also in charge of the third-year students at U.A. High School. He looks like a stereotypical cowboy, which is understandable since his Homing Quirk turns him into a sharpshooter. Homing gives Snipe the power to lock onto any target within his field of vision - which spans roughly 650 yards. The projectiles that he shoots will then chase the target until they hit.
Snipe used Homing in My Hero Academia's first season, and he took out several low-level Villains with it. Snipe's projectiles will always hit the target, but he cannot choose specific body parts. The projectiles are not that strong, but they can still pierce through flesh. The Homing Quirk wounded Tomura Shigaraki multiple times during the U.S.J. Incident.
45 Sugar Rush (Rikido Sato)
Grants Enhanced Strength, But Is Completely Useless Without Sugar

Sugar Rush |
Sugar Rush belongs to Rikido Sato of Class 1-A, and for some reason, it was hardly showcased in the anime and manga. Whenever Sato ingests ten grams of sugar, his physical strength multiplies five-fold for three minutes. Raw sugar is the best, but Sugar Rush can be activated if Sato eats enough sweets or drinks enough soft drinks. It goes without saying, that this Quirk is completely powerless if there is no sugar around.
My Hero Academia: The Hero Rankings Of Class 1-A
Many members of Class 1-A made it into the hero ranking. Here are their rankings in MHA.
Sato can punch through objects and opponents with relative ease while Sugar Rush is in effect. Thanks to his training regiment, he has increased his base physical strength, which in turn amplifies the strength offered by Sugar Rush. While Sugar Rush is active, Sato has to deal with lowered cognitive functions and decreased intelligence, making him somewhat of a berserker.
44 Weld (Yosetsu Awase)
Can Immobilize Anyone, But Will Not Work Without Multiple Objects

Construction-Done-Kwik: Weldcraft |
Weld is a special Quirk in the sense that it can technically immobilize any target. Yosetsu Awase of Class 1-B used it to immobilize Katsuki Bakugo during the Joint Training Battle. Weld gives Yosetsu the power to merge organic and inorganic matter at a subatomic level. He needs to physically touch the two objects in order to weld them together, meaning he needs to get very close to his target, which is inherently dangerous.
In order to use Weld properly, Yosetsu carries multiple small steel logs. These logs allow him to fuse targets to structures more easily. Weld may not be an offensive Quirk, but it can end a fight very quickly, and it makes transporting Villains easier because their arms and legs can be fused together via the steel logs. Beings with superhuman strength can still break free. Yosetsu also needs to make contact with more than one object; otherwise Weld will not work.
43 Frog (Tsuyu Asui)
The Frog-Like Anatomy Provides Various Physical Advantages, But The User Cannot Withstand Cold Weather

Meteor Fafrotskies |
The Frog Quirk has allowed Tsuyu Asui to become one of Class 1-A's most dependable students. As its name suggests, Frog gives Tsuyu a variety of frog-related abilities. She can swim incredibly fast, climb walls, camouflage herself, and excrete mucus that can hide her scent and paralyze others. Tsuyu also possesses frog-like anatomy and incredible leg strength, which allows her to jump great distances.
While fighting, Tsuyu typically hits enemies with her powerful, extending tongue, but she can also use her tongue to pull allies and civilians out of dangerous situations. Tsuyu can combine all her abilities and seemingly use each one without limit. Mutant Quirks come with some disadvantages though. Frogs are cold-blooded creatures, which means Tsuyu is highly susceptible to cold temperatures. Winter months hinder her greatly because she feels tired all the time, and extreme temperature changes can put her to sleep.
42 Mushroom (Kinoko Komori)
Can Take Out Multiple Opponents At The Same Time, But Allies Can Be Affected As Well

Splitgill Lung Strike |
Kinoko Komori is studying to become a Pro Hero at U.A. High School, but she is a member of Class 1-B. Thanks to the Mushroom Quirk, she has the ability to generate and spread fungus spores from her body. These spores will rapidly grow into full-size mushrooms once they touch a solid surface. The mushrooms can cover an entire area, and they can fully cover a person's body.
The spores spread quickly in humid environments, so Komori uses gun-like spray bottles to raise humidity levels. While fighting villains, Komori typically summons the fungi Schizophyllum. This fungus grows in their throats and knocks them out via asphyxiation. The Mushroom Quirk can take out dozens of opponents at the same time, but it can also target her allies if she is not careful. This Quirk can be countered with fire and ethanol.

Roaring Rage |
The Beast Quirk first appears in My Hero Academia' s Joint Training Arc. It belongs to Jurota Shishida, and it has allowed him to become one of Class 1-B's strongest fighters. It is a pretty simple Quirk, as it allows him to transform into a large, monstrous beast. He essentially becomes a sasquatch-wolf hybrid. Jurota gains a significant boost to his physical strength, to the point he can send enemies flying with a single swipe of his claws.
Jurota becomes deceptively fast while transformed, and his body becomes far more durable. Even high-voltage electrical attacks cannot affect his body. It is worth mentioning that all of Jurota's senses get enhanced as well. This allows him to track his targets. Beast is a powerful melee Quirk, but the animalistic tendencies cause Jurota to be far more reckless. As a result, he sometimes charges into inopportune situations that could have otherwise been avoided.
40 Shield (Crust)
A Defensive Quirk With Some Offensive Potential

Shoot Shield |
Crust may have received very limited screen time, but at the time of his death, he was the No. 6 ranked Pro Hero in Japan. Thanks to the Shield Quirk, he was able to create stone-like hexagon-shaped shields by growing them from his body.
He could expand his shields into larger shapes, and he would often use them to protect himself and others. This Quirk is great for defense, but it can also be used for offense. Crust could sharpen his shield's edges to turn them into weapons, and he could perform ranged attacks by throwing them.
39 Heal (Chiyo Shuzenji)
Arguably The Best Support Quirk, But It Has No Offensive Or Defensive Uses

Youthful Heroine: Recovery Girl |

In terms of actual combat ability, Recovery Girl is one of the series' weakest characters, but she still possesses one of the strongest quirks in MHA. It is called Heal, and it pairs well with her medical expertise. As the name suggests, it allows her to heal others, and she does so by amplifying the human body's natural healing process.
She can only activate this quirk by kissing the injured person, and the actual healing process is dependent on the patient's overall life force. She may not be able to do anything about missing limbs, but she can heal broken limbs and bones in just a few seconds .
